Join Rebecca Purcell — artist and former art director and set/still life stylist for Anthropologie — on a four-week, multidimensional adventure into the creative realm using an object or image as your entry point.

The objects and images we resonate with are far more than they appear. They are uniquely personal interconnections between the creative self and the vast entangled world we live in. Items we are attracted to are speaking to us in a secret language, and they have much to teach us about ourselves.

Part immersive self-exploration, part artist’s talk, this intensive workshop goes deep into material culture by investigating the hidden layers of meaning within a personally significant object or image. At the conclusion of this multi-dimensional exploration, you will transform your chosen item into a physical talisman.

Under the insightful guidance of Rebecca Purcell, whose extensive experience encompasses the creative process, crafting, and personal world-making, you will embark on a transformative journey to uncover the unique facets of your creative voice.

In this class you will:

  • Explore the creative realm in fresh and innovative ways.

  • Uncover hidden significance within your object or image, serving as a portal to creativity and self-expression.

  • Transform your chosen personal object or image into a physical, symbolic talisman.

  • Gain access to Purcell’s archive of inspirational imagery.

  • Connect with others through shared experiences with objects.

  • Discover connections and core philosophies related to your authentic self.

  • Identify unique qualities that can set your creative work apart.

  • Gain insights into the artist's creative process.

  • Receive personal advice and guidance on crafting your talisman.

Rebecca Purcell is a multidisciplinary creative practitioner who explores the evolution of consciousness through her work as an artist, writer, and stylist, navigating the spaces between the exoteric and the esoteric.

With over thirty years of experience in set/still life styling, writing, art, design, and handcrafting, Rebecca Purcell began her career in display. She spent the 1990s as the visual director of the renowned A.B.C. Home, all while creating an elaborate cosmology focused on aesthetics as a source for reaching hidden recesses of creativity. She then transitioned to freelance styling and art direction for Anthropologie and various home design companies. Recognized as a pioneer in the modern bohemian aesthetic, Purcell published a beloved interior design book, Interior Alchemy (William Morrow), featuring artists’ homes. Her home and unique approach to aesthetics have been highlighted in several publications, including Nest, Casa Vogue, and New York Magazine, as well as showcased in Creative Living by Robyn Lea and Maverick Homes by Miv Watts.
