Saturday, May 24, 2025
5:30 - 10 pm
Patterson, New York
Admission Options:
$250: Early Bird Patreon Member Admission (Limited to 10)
$500: Entrance for one
$2,200: Five-person table (Email megan@morbidanatomy.org for tax-deductible option)
Join us this spring for an exclusive evening at a private estate filled with exotic live—and taxidermied—animals, hosted by Natural History enthusiast, author and collector Josh Powe of Instagram's weekly Taxidermy Auction and the soon-to-launch Permanent Record magazine. Over the past 15 years, Josh has accumulated a world-renowned collection of historically significant taxidermy by 19th century masters of the craft, and has curated multiple museum and gallery exhibits on the scientific and social aspects of Victorian taxidermy and the psychology of collecting.
The private collection, believed to be the largest of its kind in the United States, includes thousands of specimens, including extinct and exotic species, "freak" domestic animals, English sporting trophies, antique pets, Victorian anthropomorphic dioramas, zoomorphic functional taxidermy such as inkwells, ashtrays, candlesticks, snuff mulls & more...much more. The grounds are also home to a variety of animals including peacocks and exotic pheasants, horses (miniature and otherwise), sheep, and ayam cemani, also known as “goth chickens”.
This benefit, in support of Morbid Anatomy’s mission, will also feature a decadent Roman-inspired feast centered on exotic game (with vegetarian options for the less carnivorous) along with plentiful libation and entertainment, including a rousing game of “zoo-lette” (taxidermy roulette) where you will have a chance to go home with one (or more) taxidermy specimens from Josh's collection.
