Death is a constant character in Past Life Regression. Suggested throughout the subtext of the uniquely powerful and spiritual therapy are cycles of life which are also cycles of death. As a character and component in regression, the archetypal presence and literal reminder of death are never far away. In this experiential course, we’ll explore the theory and practice of Past Life Regression (PLR) in relationship to the lived experience of death, death positivity, reincarnation, and the continuation of the eternal as they emerge.

This class will offer students the chance to pass through the process as described by the great books and thinkers (The Tibetan Book of the Dead, The Egyptian Book of the Dead, The Inferno, Dr. Brian Weiss, Roger Woolger, Dolores Cannon, Buddhist traditions, etc.) using the practical therapy of Past Life Regression to experience the intelligible possibilities and boundaries of life, death, and rebirth. Regression itself offers the participant a compassionate structure and process through which spiritual questions can be asked and answered. Born in the 1970s and popularized by characters like Daniel’s late father, Jeffrey Ryan, this unique and dynamically cathartic process threads hypnosis with mysticism and meditation in an experience which studies reincarnation, the afterlife, non-ordinary states, Freudian and Jungian views, archetypal psychology, meaning-making, and countless other mysteries.

Students will have the opportunity to experience PLR during multiple classes examining and potentially experiencing their past lifetimes, relationships transcending their present incarnation, death scenes, rebirthing, the spaces between lives, non-human existences, and much more. There will be guest speakers to further illuminate and deepen our understanding of the material.

Benefits and takeaways from this course will include your own journeys through the subconscious, insight into the uses and applications of PLR and hypnosis, new and dynamic frameworks for better understanding ourselves and the mind, fascinating material and reading pertaining to PLR, life, death, and the afterlife to enjoy and discuss, and the opportunity for a revitalized sense of purpose having been enriched by the tools and resources of regression.

PLR itself is roughly 50 years old but contains multitudes in its shared histories and connections to the larger subjects of hypnosis, meditation, modern spiritual systems of teaching and healing, and the spectrum of philosophies of the afterlife.

In Beyond Terror and Denial: The Positive Psychology of Death Acceptance, Paul T.P. Wong and Adrian Tomer write “…at a personal level, death attitudes matter: Death defines how we live.” Death will be examined from a multitude of viewpoints throughout the course. And “Death Positivity" within the context of this course will be defined in the simplest terms and may be considered broadly as a positive orientation towards the study, exploration, and experience of the inevitable. Reaching for and grasping a freer spectrum of attitudes, anything outside of the generally avoidant tropes of an ageist, youth-obsessed marketplace that exists in dialogue with an abhorrently expensive and prohibitive healthcare system will be a good start. Past Life Regression truly is an alternative that always has Death front and center, hiding in plain sight in its narrativized cycles of completion, reincarnation, and rebirth.

Each class will focus on different pieces of our narratives around death and dying. The progression is designed to be enjoyed, and will unfold with the material and practices that are offered. The dialogue between theory and practice will serve multiple purposes.

  1. Advancing the students knowledge of past life regression. We’ll discuss how it can be guided and experienced, what its benefits are and its limitations.

  2. Examining before, during, and after the event we call ‘death'. Often regarded as the source and seed of transformation, death will be used as a filter and funnel to metaphorically and theoretically pass through and observe.

  3. Integrating and observing grief. With terrific respect and compassion for the common and necessary process of grief, we’ll discuss and explore how regression can support and relieve as we gravitate towards acceptance.

  4. Unfolding through a simulated process of reincarnation. The sequence and progression of the course has been designed to emulate the journey through the space between lives as it’s been historically described.

  5. To play with the mystery. Past Life Regression, like its father, Hypnosis, use more common and ordinary components than their reputation’s would have us believe. But, it’s also true that they allow us to explore the boundaries of our minds and the knowns and unknowns of our consciousness.
