The seven classical planets—Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, the Sun, Venus, Mercury, and the moon—have been staples of "Western" cosmologies and magic since at least ancient Mesopotamia. Charted not only in the sky-maths of astrological aspects and configuration, the planets or 'Wandering Stars' (planetes in the Greek) are also found in the names of the days of the week in many European languages—offering us a sense of the shifting and dynamic magical flavours of the everyday passage of time as well as the zeniths of ritually significant moments.

In this seven-part series we will explore not only ceremonial magical planetary correspondences of colour, number, and symbolism as abstract qualities, but the living and vital heraldry of each of the planets—their foods, spirits, moods, herbs and stones, activities, passions, and proclivities. It will provide both a theoretical overview of planetary magic and practical tools that will enable students to apply it to magical operations and our daily lives. We will consider how each of the Seven Planets can help us through the struggles - both in our days and in our hearts - as well as how these mighty stars can join us in celebration of our victories and accomplishments.

The goal of this seven-part course is to give its students some keys to bringing the planets into our lives through breath, speech, spellcraft, talismans, rites, and—above all—living well!

Everyday Planetary Magic: The Moon, Queen of the Stars
Date: Sunday, March 27
Time: 2–4 pm EST

The Moon has been hailed and praised as many things: from the very Queen of Heaven to simply a friend for the lonesome to talk to. There is undoubtedly an inherent silvery magic to our chalky guide through the dark of night. In this talk, diviner and magician Dr. Alexander Cummins will take us on our own night-journey through the various ways the Moon has been understood as a powerful patron for magicians, witches, astrologers, mystics, and shapeshifters.

This lecture is an investigation into various astrological magical techniques and incantations to help cohere, grow, and develop one's own spiritual and magical practices with the Moon. We will discuss the flow and tide of the thirteen-moon lunar calendar and its associated rites, considering traditions of the Waxing and Waning, and the Full and New Moons. We will also explore medieval and early modern grimoiric sources for perspectives on working with lunar spirits. We will consider the Moon's relationship with mysteries of water, dream, illusion, and the dead. There will be spiritual bath recipes, tips on using scrying mirrors, and overall an emphasis on the practicable workable ways we can align and engage with the virtues of Luna, the Queen of the Stars

Everyday Planetary Magic: Mars, Mortal-Destroying King
Date: Sunday, April 17
Time: 2–4 pm EST

Mars, boistrous ruddy Warrior-King of Battle, is of course best known as the ruling planet of courageous Ares and passionate Scorpio. He governs the geomantic figures of the boyish Young Warrior and dangerous Bloodshed. His regiments of spirits work tirelessly wielding iron and fire and blood. Yet finesse and protection march to Mars'; wardrum alongside machismo and belligerence. Mars rules both the bloodthirsty killer and the careful surgeon, the aggressive soldier, the competitive athlete, the enduring fitness trainer, the drill sergeant, the hair-dresser, the blacksmith; each and every disciplined martial artist. The Red Planet empowers and protects all those who work with fires transformative forces, from alchemists to bakers. Perhaps most significantly Mars has powerful lessons to teach us about the virtues and vices of anger: both destructive fury and righteous wrathfulness at the injustices of the world.

In this illustrated lecture, consultant sorcerer and professional diviner Dr Alexander Cummins will spearhead a storming of the arsenals of the Lord of War to find the medicines alongside the armaments: the seals, sigils, spirits, and spells of Martial magics.

By these whetstones, the instrumental prowess of blood, vigour, passion, and ire will be sharpened.

Everyday Planetary Magic: Mercury, Celestial Messenger
Date: Sunday, May 15
Time: 2–4 pm EST

Far-darting upon winged sandals from the three-way crossroads where Greek Hermes, Roman Mercury and even some vestiges of Egyptian Thoth meet, Mercury the planet can truly be considered thrice-great. Ruling all communication, all languages, mathematics, sciences, philosophy, and even the teaching of magic itself, Mercury is very much a magician's planet. But fluid, dynamic Mercury also governs hermaphrodites and those who practice the alchemy of balancing and manipulating masculine and feminine forces within and without themselves. At once trickster and teacher, Mercury is both a wise librarian and a charming devil at the crossroads. Perhaps increasingly known in popular culture by the upsets and upheavals of Mercury Retrograde, this supremely mutable Messenger of the Gods carries both good and bad news.

In this illustrated lecture - taught by professional diviner, consultant sorcerer, and historian of magic, Dr Alexander Cummins - we will explore various folk magical means of working with Mercury and its spirits to adapt, to connect, to understand, and to communicate. These techniques are drawn from ancient incantations, medieval and early modern handbooks of ritual magic and spirit conjuration, and even some modern approaches to surviving and even thriving during the next Retrograde!

Everyday Planetary Magic: Jupiter, Source of Abundance
Date: Sunday, June 12
Time: 2–4 pm EST

The planet Jupiter has been characterised as 'magnanimous, commanding, sceptred'; as 'arm'd with light'ning'; and as 'all-parent'. Most commonly appealed to in modern astrological magic as the planet of wealth, Jupiter the Greater Benefic is also a source of purification, healing, benevolence, and spiritual elevation. Not for nothing was this huge planet 'much-honour'd' as the patron of all expansion, gain, and growth - whether of economic resources, social grace and status, or garnered wisdom. Also a planet of gentle humour, joviality, and kindness, Jupiter has much to teach about the protective role of leadership, benevolence, and generosity. Finally, Jupiter was often appealed to in early modern astrological magic as a source of love magic - both worldly compassion and personal romance - bringing its great patronages of diplomatic tact, virility, and abundance of affection to the lovelives of our pre-modern forebears.

In this illustrated lecture, professional diviner, consultant sorcerer, and historian of magic Dr Alexander Cummins will take us on something of a pilgrimage through Jupiter's piety and precious treasures alike, offering techniques and perspectives on how to work with the Greater Benefic to more fully realise its blessings in our lives.

Everyday Planetary Magic: Venus, Mother of Loves
Date: Sunday, July 10
Time: 2–4 pm EST

Praised as 'laughter-loving queen' and 'all-connecting dame', Venus is a planetary goddess and font of occult virtue whose powers, influences, and creations extend well beyond the merely conventionally "romantic". For she rules over all forms of Love, desire, sensuality, and embodiment.

As much graceful sensuous artisan as beloved and beautiful empress, Venus governs benevolently over both the perfumed scales of Libra and the gutsy horns of Taurus, and teaches handicrafts along with hedonisms. There is craft and wit and guile and enchantment to the Lady of Love as well as kindness, passion, and sexuality.

In this illustrated lecture, diviner and consultant sorcerer Dr Alexander Cummins will lead us in jubilant praise of Venus and Her magics: Her praises, poetry and song; Her dancing mysterious spirits and their conjurations; Her talismans and many, many charms, baths, and incenses. We will discuss the employment of elemental passions in the very crafting of sorcerous cosmetics, unguents, mirrors, and apples.

Everyday Planetary Magic: Saturn, Venerable Root
Date: Sunday, August 14
Time: 2–4 pm EST

Praised as 'venerable root' of things, old barren Saturn is considered the ruler of 'the world immense in everlasting chains' - ruling leaden concepts of restriction, mortality, decrease, and decay. It is easy to fear or resent the Greater Malefic. Yet strong silent Saturn also offers the boundaries that preserve, the fortifications that protect, and the putrefaction mysteries that allow new life to emerge from old death. In ruling the experiences and expressions of sorrow, Saturn can also help us venture deep into our shadows, commune with our darknesses and proceed back out having secured knowledge of self to overcome our own shortcomings.

In this class professional diviner, consultant sorcerer, and historian of magic Dr Alexander Cummins will explore the utilities of Saturnine virtues and spirits in workings of focus, containment, and solitude, as well as in operations concerning the dead, melancholy, and time.

Everyday Planetary Magic: The Sun, The World’s Commander
Date: Sunday, September 18
Time: 2–4 pm EST

Golden Titan, Father of Ages, the World's Commander. All are titles of Sol, the eponymous centre of our solar system. Planet of sovereignty, vision, clarity, and elevation, the magic of the Sun is as regal as it is healing, and as illuminating as it is

harmonious. Humanity has honoured the warming life-giving virtues of the Sun and its shining spirits for quite some span of time. As Winter wanes, so Spring warms us once more. At every turn of every season, the Sun guides us. At every Solstice, the standing still of firm foundation and the appreciation of our blessings, and the balancing hand that tips from one extreme back to centre. At every Equinox, the halfway point of action, choice, and balance. The Sun is also the great treasurer of a vast wealth of necromantic mysteries, dying and reborn each year and indeed each day. Its journey through the underworld of Night before ascending once more in the East has been the inspiration for countless operations that aid practitioners of all stripes to find their own way through their own Dark Nights of the Soul. Small wonder herbs of the Sun such as st johns wort are literally used for their potent anti-depressant potencies.

Join us for this talk by professional diviner, magician, and historian of magic Dr Alexander Cummins as we celebrate the power and lessons that the Sun and its radiant hosts of angels, devils and other spirits have to teach us: concerning pushing back against melancholia and sorrow, standing our ground, shedding light in the darkness, and stepping into our own sovereignty as the benevolent rulers of the kingdoms of our own lives.

Dr. Alexander Cummins is a magician, diviner, historian, and poet whose work focuses on magical books, demonology, geomancy, and folk magic as well as love divination and enchantment. His doctoral research centered on magic and the emotions in the pre-modern world.
