This talk, based on the new book Vampires, Warriors and Nomads: The History, Folklore and Mythology of the Hungarians, will take a deep dive into the history, folklore, and mythology of Hungary. We will learn about monsters, witches, vampires, dragons and ghosts, and delve into the mythological origins of Hungary, replace with legendary nomad warriors and ancestors of Atilla the Hun questing to form a new country under the covenant of blood. We will also look at the rich and challenging history of the Hungarians, including devastating attacks by Genghis Khan, occupation by the Ottomans, dismemberment after World War I, Soviet occupation, and a failed revolution against communism.
