What does it mean to examine portrayals of blackness at the intersections of art, death, and culture within the medium of comics? Using historical images and documents, Dr. Chireau considers representations and meanings of embodied blackness in 20th-century comics. Through critical analysis and discussion, participants will gain a deeper understanding of the relationship between comics, blackness, and visual representation.
