Reflections on the Exhibition "She Who Wrote: Enheduanna and Women of Mesopotamia ca. 3400-2000 BC” : An Illustrated Lecture by Sidney Babcock, Curator at the Morgan Library and Museum

Admission: $8 - Tickets and more info HERE

The High Priestess Enheduanna is the first known author in literary history. A woman who lived around 4,300 years ago in what is now southern Iraq, her poetry, dedicated to the ancient Sumerian Goddess Inanna (also called Ishtar), is still beloved for their expressive and erotic power.

Tonight, we will host Sidney Babcock, curator of the Morgan Library’s current exhibition on the woman and her work: She Who Wrote: Enheduanna and Women of Mesopotamia, ca. 3400-2000 B.C. His illustrated talk will explore the life and work of Edheduanna, touching on various aspects of the exhibition, and highlights of the objects on view.
