In this class, students will learn to skin, stuff and pose a small mouse and go home with a finished piece. Daisy Tainton, an experienced taxidermist and entomologist, will guide you through each simple step on the wondrous journey from dead mouse to glamorous preserved specimen. You will learn how to pose your mouse and create an armature for the skin.
A simple wooden base and all taxidermy supplies will be provided. Some miniatures and props will be also available if you wish to create an anthropomorphic scene. Feel free to bring a favorite teacup or any other prop you would like to use as a display.
Mice are about 3" nose to rear.
Daisy Tainton, contributor to the Crap Taxidermy book by Kat Su, is known for her work with insects but participates every year in the Alternative Taxidermy Competition in Philadelphia. Her work has been shown in galleries in LA, NYC, and Phoenix AZ. She worked at the American Museum of Natural History for over a decade, handling grosser stuff than you can even imagine, and honing her skills with small dead animals.
