Join us this October for a uniquely Adirondack experience! To celebrate the 2019 special exhibit Curious Creatures: Taxidermy in the Adirondacks, join us for a weekend of taxidermy classes, exhibition tours, screenings, and conversations about taxidermy, culminating in a costume masquerade at at the historic Adirondack Hotel! Participants include taxidermy teachers Divya Anantharaman and Daisy Tainton; taxidermist George Dante; taxidermy collectors Christopher English and Evan Michelson; director Ronni Thomas; and surprise guests with surprise pieces of antique taxidermy!
SCHEDULE
Saturday, October 5
9:30 – 5:00 – Anthropomorphic mouse taxidermy workshops led by Divya Anantharaman, and Daisy Tainton, happening concurrently (Sign up HERE)
10:00-3:00 – Tours of the Curious Creatures exhibit with Evan Michelson and Christopher English
10:00-2:00 – Screening of Death and Taxidermy and The Man Who Married Kittens, alternate showings throughout the day
2:00-4:00 – Screening of the documentary Stuffed (FREE for members, $5 for non-members without museum admission)
4:00-5:00 – Screening of The Man Who Married Kittens and post-screening discussion with Joanna Ebenstein, Ronni Thomas, and Carol Hozner
5:00-6:00 – Presentation by George Dante – Lonesome George, Conversation and Taxidermy (FREE for members, $5 for non-members without museum admission)
7:00 – Curious Creature Masquerade at the historic Adirondack Hotel (cost $35 reserved ahead, or $45 at the door) Pre-register by contacting The Adirondack Hotel at 518-624-4700.
