Morbid Anatomy and Nitehawk Cinema present a night of many masks with a special presentation of psychedelic, freaky-deaky horror classic The Mask (1961), preceded by the 2018 short documentary, Past Life: The Maskwork of Candice Angelini, presented by The Midnight Archive. Contemporary Shaman Langston Kahn will briefly discuss his work using masks for healing purposes.

Morbid Anatomy has been surveying the interstices of art and medicine, death and culture, since 2007. Their means of communication have included a blog, an open to the public collection and research library, classes, lectures, exhibitions, spectacles, symposia, field trips, books, screenings and parties.

Artist Candice Angelini produces some of the most enchanting and mysterious masks, head dresses and dolls. In this brief look at her work, she explains her process and how memories and past lives are channeled through her truly uncanny work.

A young archaeologist believes he is cursed by a mask that causes him to have weird nightmares and possibly to murder. Before committing suicide, he mails the mask to his psychiatrist, Dr. Barnes, who is soon plunged into the nightmare world of the mask.

SHORT LECTURE

Contemporary Shaman Langston Kahn will briefly discuss his work using masks for healing purposes.
