This handsome Morbid Anatomy tote bag boasts an image from the title page of Frederik Ruysch and His Thesaurus Anatomicus, edited by Morbid Anatomy founder Joanna Ebenstein and published by MIT Press. The explanation for the illustration can be found on page 177 of the book, and reads:

“Fig. 1. Represents a Human Skeleton, the size of a pinky finger, whose right hand holds an unfertilized human Egg (marked Letter A). The left hand holds three strands of hair, with three human eggs of different sizes.”

The original etching/engraving is from the book "Opera Omnia Anatomico-Medico-Chirurgica" (1721) by Dutch anatomist, museologist, and "artist of death" (and Morbid Anatomy Patron Saint) Frederik Ruysch. The illustrator behind this wonderful and iconic image was Cornelius Huyberts.
