A common assumption among Tarot readers is that intuition is the language and tool that enables us to read cards. In French, the arcana are often called "blades" (Les Lames du Tarot), metaphorically suggesting that they, themselves have the power to cut through layers of uncertainty.

What would happen if we were to invert this process? What if the Tarot became the whetstone upon which we sharpen our intuitive edge? The "gut-driven" way we see and sense the world is a useful gift to develop. With Tarot as our teacher, we might develop skills instead of merely receiving the answers we thought we knew all along. The teachable gift of clarity and insightful autonomy will allow us to be more confident, and make the High Priestess in her temple proud to see us thrive.

In this two-part class, we'll explore twelve practical exercises that utilize the Tarot to reconnect with our own instincts, employing strategies ranging from our creative drive and liminal experiences to archetypal invocation. Much like flexing a muscle, through use and practice, the flow of intuitive insights becomes stronger and more accessible, enriching our perspective with a sense of depth and assisting us in our development.

Students will learn how to hone their intuitive skills through Tarot, while gaining deeper insights into their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. In these twelve activities, we’ll unlock an innovative problem solving tool-box by engaging with the symbolic and interpretive nature of Tarot.

French-born Laetitia Barbier is an independent scholar, as well as a professional Tarot reader and teacher. She earned a Bachelor's Degree in Art History from La Sorbonne University Paris in 2009. Laetitia has worked with Morbid Anatomy from 2012 to 2024 as a programming director, head librarian, and occasional curator. Her book Tarot and Divination Cards: A Visual Archive was published in 2021 with a foreword by Rachel Pollack. She is the author of the Tiger Tarot Guide Book, a unique Tarot deck by symbolist artist Lori Field. As a writer and scholar, she has the privilege of collaborating with the iconic French maître-cartier Grimaud, notably on the exquisite re-release of their 1930s Tarot de Marseille and Belline Oracle.
