Mexican Antique Mano Figa

Mexican Antique Mano Figa

$65.00

This handmade antique features a hand carved from solid wood with brass fingernails. The wood is most likely Parota, a tropical hardwood from Mexico.

Mano de Figa literally translated is “fig in hand” and refers to female genitalia. Dating back to Roman times, a reference to Mano de Figa meant invoking the goddess, a call to fertility, and good times but evolved into vulgar profanity in later years. Thankfully use of the term as an insult has long since been forgotten and the figure of the closed fist with thumb poking through two fingers can once again be experienced as feminine power, fertility, and good times.
