This classic image of La Catrina is silk-screened onto textured, artisanal paper that has been hand-painted blue with exuberant bursts of bright yellow, purple, green, and pink speckled brush strokes all over. The paper has deckled edges.

La Catrina, an icon of Mexican culture, was created by the artist José Guadalupe Posada in a legendary etching circa 1910. It was intended as a satirical portrait of Mexican natives who, Posada felt, were pretentiously aspiring to adopt European aristocratic traditions in the pre-revolutionary era.
