In-Person Walking Tour · The Cemetery Language of Flowers at Greenwood Cemetery with Allison C. Meier

  • Green-Wood Cemetery 500 25th Street Brooklyn, NY, 11232 United States (map)

$25 - Tickets HERE

Floriography, or the language of flowers, was incredibly popular in the 19th century, when Green-Wood Cemetery opened its gates in Brooklyn. This fascination with the symbolism of flowers, whether pansies for thoughts or roses for love, influenced the design of memorials just as it did fashion and art. This walk will invite participants to decode the hidden messages of death's bouquet that appear on the tombs.
