From Catholicism's Madonna Dolorosa to the Victorian "cult of the dead" to professional weepers, many of the traditions, rituals and duties related to mourning have are carried by women. This new exhibition will explore--in art and artifacts drawn from the Morbid Anatomy archives, private collections, contemporary artists and the Green-Wood Historic Fund--the places where mourning, memory and the feminine meet.
